On the fourth day of the 12 DOB...
This is the second of two posts covering Emerson and Waldron. The three albums they recorded for Rebel remain some of the best records ever issued. This volume contains the second half of the second album and then all of the third. It also has a couple unissued songs which were only released several years ago. Highlights include Fox on the Run, Early Morning Rain and The Water's So Cold. I am purely guessing here but it is my strong assumption that as well as Emerson and Waldron did together that they might not have liked each other that much. I mean, with as influential as they were, it seems elementary that they would reunite for a project or two to capitalize off of their past and the fact that they broke up so quickly. Yet here we are forty-seven years later and they have yet to reunite. Given that everyone reunites over much less, I have to think there was bad blood there. Whatever the reason though, it is unfortunate that they left us such a small amount of music to appreciate. They had good chemistry and even better ideas together. On their own, they were not nearly this good.
