On the fourth day of the 12 DOB...
This is also the second post of a two volume series. I am a big Roy Lee fan and hope that some day Jack lynch will empty out the vault on the stuff that he has, as well as provide some clarity on who is playing on each track. Until then, I hope that you enjoy these as much as I do. Roy lee was an immense talent. In many respects he should be able to take a lot of the credit for how big Ralph Stanley was able to be after his brother and lead singer of their group passed away. While Roy Lee was not the first vocalist to replace Carter, he certainly was considered the best for many many years. In fact, many, including me, would say that Ralph never had a better lead vocalist after Carter. Because not many of these sides were issued under his name, I think that many were not aware that he had such a prolific recording career before he ever joined Ralph. Unfortunately, you could take all of his pre-Ralph recordings and fit them on only two volumes.
Thanks to Steve, Ronald and Don for the assist with the source material for this. I will say that there are two songs that were wrecked on the source and I could do nothing with them. If you have better versions of Wesley's Breakdown and Long Black Veil, please let me know.
