On the 12th day of the 12 DOB...

This was kind of a late add. I was working on a volume for Raymond Fairchild which didn't quite materialize, but if you followed bluegrass music during the 80s, you couldn't consider Fairchild without also thinking about the Crowe Brothers. Tight brother harmonies have always been popular among the bluegrass listening community and the Crowes' might have exemplified that best during this period. They had kind of a hit with The Winds Are Blowing in Maggie Valley, but, the early material on this volume was done for the relatively obscure Skyline label. Skyline was actually created by banjoist Marc Pruett, who played with Jimmy Martin and Ricky Skaggs. He plays with a group called Balsam Range, who I understand is pretty good, so I am told. Anyway, back to the Crowes, they had a really good sound and they really excited at festivals. Between Fairchild's hot Scruggs-like banjo licks and then the Crowes' tight harmonies, it made them a festival favorite during the 80s.

Thanks to Steve T for his help with the source material on this one.
